In a world that constantly tries to tell us how to look, act, and exist, choosing to embrace your natural beauty on your own terms is a radical act of self-love. Permanent makeup isn’t about changing who you are, it’s about enhancing what’s already there and celebrating your unique features in a way that feels right for you.

Whether you want to reclaim your time, feel more confident without layers of makeup, or simply express yourself more freely, permanent makeup is a powerful tool that goes beyond skin deep.

What Is Permanent Makeup?

Permanent makeup (PMU), also known as cosmetic tattooing, involves implanting pigment into the skin to mimic the look of everyday makeup—think fuller brows, defined eyes, flushed lips, or cute little freckles. It can be subtle and natural or more bold and stylized depending on your vibe. Techniques and pigments have come a long way, making PMU more customizable and skin-friendly than ever before.

The Benefits of Permanent Makeup

1. Enhancing Natural Features

Permanent makeup is all about working with your natural bone structure, skin tone, and aesthetic. Want to bring symmetry to your brows, give your lips a soft, natural tint, or add a sun-kissed freckled look year-round? PMU can enhance what’s already there without covering it up. It’s like the “no-makeup makeup” look, but it stays with you when you wake up, go to the gym, or hit the beach.

2. Saving Time & Energy

Let’s be honest, life is busy. Whether you’re a student, a parent, working multiple jobs, or just living your best life, permanent makeup cuts down the time you spend in front of the mirror. That means more time to do the things that actually matter to you.

3. Empowering All Genders & Identities

Beauty is not binary. PMU is for everyone: cis women, trans folks, non-binary babes, men who want definition or symmetry, and anyone who wants to feel more at home in their body. It can help align your appearance with how you feel inside, which is huge for confidence and self-expression.

4. Supporting Accessibility

For people with limited mobility, vision impairment, or conditions like alopecia, vitiligo, or scarring, PMU can be a game-changer. It helps restore or highlight features in a way that feels empowering and affirming, without needing to rely on daily makeup routines.

5. Long-Term Confidence

When you feel good in your skin, it radiates outward. PMU can boost self-esteem, help with body image, and give you a sense of ownership over how you present yourself to the world. It’s not about hiding flaws, it’s about celebrating your face, your story, and your style.

Why Choose a PMU Artist Who Sees You?

Getting permanent makeup is a personal experience, and it matters who’s holding the machine. You deserve an artist who listens, who respects your vision, and who honors your identity without assumptions. This isn’t just a beauty service, it’s a collaboration, and you should leave your session feeling seen, celebrated, and empowered.

Permanent makeup isn’t about looking a certain way, it’s about feeling like you. Whether you’re looking to simplify your routine, affirm your gender, or just feel a little more like the person you are inside, PMU is here to support that journey.

Your face. Your choice. Your beauty.

About Me

Hi! I’m Vanessa, a 32-year-old permanent makeup artist based in Montreal, working out of Vilains Tattoo.

Before stepping into the world of PMU, I worked for years as a professional makeup artist. That background gave me a deep understanding of faces, color theory, and how powerful it is to feel good in your skin.

I’m passionate about skin, pigments, and the healing process. I care just as much about how your PMU looks freshly done as I do about how it heals over time. Creating beautiful, natural, long-lasting results that respect your skin is what drives me. My focus is always on subtle enhancements that bring out your unique features and help you feel more like you.

Whether you’re new to PMU or looking to refresh your look, my goal is simple: to hold space for you, to listen without judgment, and to help you walk out feeling confident, comfortable, and seen.
